it turned out to be that HWIC module on ASA was faulty. We got it replace through RMA.

and HA was restored

Hello,

We have a pair of ASA-5555 in spare that we want to re-use these devices.

One of the ASAs is no longer showing its Interface Card module.

The other device which is the same model with the same modules is showing the module.

Name: "module 1", DESCR: "ASA 5545-X/5555-X Interface Card 6-port GE SFP, SX/LX"

PID: ASA-IC-6GE-SFP-C, VID: N/A , SN: N/A

I found this bug CSCum55314 which seems to match but I don't understand their solutions or workarounds

BR,

The below steps can be followed to check if the chassis is at fault or the module:
1. Try to re-seat the interface module while the device is powered-off
2. Attempt a device reload or upgrade
3. Replace the interface module with a working spare one

The defect shared is cosmetic, the 'show inventory' might not display the module details, but the 'show interface ip brief' does display them.

I am having same issue.

I cannot see module in show inventory and show int ip brief - after updating OS on ASA 5525.

Its working perfectly fine on other firewall of HA pair

We had (have) the same issue on two device belonging to two different HA pairs.
First one was resolved by completely exchanging the device (chassis and module)
Second one is in progress, we received a new (refurbished) chassis, module still not showing up, and wait for a replacement module now.
