The Risk and other attributes of an application detector obtained from the VDB (Vulnerability Database) updates. You can reference the Secure Firewall Application Detector portal to do a quick lookup and request support. It is entirely possible that the Risk factor was incorrectly assigned to this particular application detector, but it is best to open a support case.

Firewall blocking JW Player - Why?

Our organization's Cisco FTD is blocking JW Player, saying it's categorized as "very high risk". I can find nothing on the Internet about JW Player being considered high risk. I don't want to unblock it if the FTD is blocking it for good reason, but I'm mystified that nobody out there seems to have a problem with that player, yet our FTD does.

Any idea why it's being blocked or if it's safe to allow? We're a school and some of our instructors utilize training software that relies on JW Player to work. They say it worked until just recently, so this must be a recent recategorization on Cisco's part.
