This type of "migration" is not covered in any Cisco documents or tools. However, you should be able to restore a backup from the current FMC to a new installation on the new server provided the version and content updates (Snort, VDB etc.) match. The new server should have the same IP address as the old one.

Hi Marvin,

We need to build a fresh Fmc,license it and then migrate the backup from previous fmc to new one ?

Hi vishal6,

it would be the same you need to build fresh fmc into Ubuntu server with same FMC-version and and content updates (Snort, VDB etc.) as @Marvin Rhoads said however for licensing you need to remove previous entitlement from the smart licensing portal and assign them with new fmc for the ip of the FMC will be remain the same before the migration u need to shut down the old fmc.

@rushispace that's correct.

@Vishal6 yes - build fresh and then migrate - with the license considerations mentioned by @rushispace
