Firepower 1010 registration

Hello,

I'm having trouble re-registering my Firepower 1010 after I changed ISPs from Comcast to Starlink. I used to have a static ip address and I'm hoping I don't have to get a static ip address with Starlink. Is there a way to register the firewall without static ip address?

re-registering to what exactly? Smart Licensing? AMP Cloud? FMC? cdFMC? Security Cloud Control? Something else?

Sure there is way

You can use NAT ID instead of static IP to register ftd to fmc

Sorry I'm new to the firepower, I'm not trying to register to the fmc. I don't have fmc. I'm trying to register to Cisco smart licensing in order to be able to make changes to my firewall. I have an error message that says "base license is required. you cannot deploy changes until you register. smart license." I have found that I can ping out from the management cli, to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 etc, but cannot ping names like smartreceiver.cisco.com. I have tried everything I can think of with the dns but cannot get the dns to work from the firepower cli.

@kenhgn the DNS configuration via the CLI would be specific to traffic from the management interface, in which case you'd use "ping system smartreceiver.cisco.com".

If you are using the data interface (outside) to reach the Cisco website, then you configure the DNS settings in the GUI. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/760/fdm/fptd-fdm-config-guide-760/fptd-fdm-system.html#id_73499 when you ping from the CLI from the data interface you using "ping smartreceiver.cisco.com"
