Cisco Secure Firewall 1220CX Question

Good Day,

I’m expecting a Cisco Secure Firewall 1220CX to be shipped to my office, and I will be setting it up to be sent to a remote location.

This will be my first time setting up a firewall. I’ve been watching tutorials and reading the quick-start guides, and the process seems fairly straightforward.

Can I set up the firewall rules before shipping it to the remote location, and then provide instructions for how to plug it in? Or would I need to travel to the remote office and connect it to the ISP modem to allow the setup to automatically detect and configure the device?

- @aaron-rousch You can implement the firewall rules before, but operational checking and connecting to the ISP together
with the needed (operational ) verifications should best be done at the remote office,

It depends

If you use same mgmt then config will preserve

If you change mgmt (from fdm to fmc or from fmc1 to fmc2) then all config will lost.

Thank you, I'll discuss everything with my manager, but it might be easier to do the entire setup at the remote office.

Would you recommend going to the remote office and just set everything up there.

I don't think the mgmt will change between the two offices, but i will keep that in mind

- @aaron-rousch If you set up everything there then the benefit is that you immediately verify if the rules work as intended
