Hi All,

C2811 Router

        |

C2960 L2 switch

| outside |

ASA -------- ASA

I am running a simple topology in my laborary for testing ASA 5516-X failover and it is running active/standby failover. I have tried to power off the active ASA and the standby ASA pick up the active role. After reloading the former active ASA, I found the outside monitored-interface is always shown "Failed (Waiting)". In the current active ASA, I can't ping the standby (10.10.241.4).

Finally, the problem can be resolved after shut/no shut the physical outside interface.

Is there any idea any problem is that. Thanks in advance

ASA# show monitor-interface
This host: Secondary - Failed
Interface outside (10.10.241.4): Failed (Waiting)
Interface inside (10.10.1.249): Normal (Monitored)
Other host: Primary - Active
Interface outside (10.10.241.3): Normal (Monitored)
Interface inside (10.10.1.248): Normal (Monitored)
