Mahi,

400 Mbps is the throughput value for VPN traffic no matter what it is carrying within.

1.5 Gbps is the value for multiprotocol traffic which is clear text.

Also, you might even see more throughput for VPN traffic, i.e more than 400 Mbps and this happens when there is a possibility and also availability. So there is no such default policing that the throughput value can never be crossed, it is rather calculated in a lab environment and can be considered as a baseline.

So to answer your question, any kind of VPN traffic, it will be 400 Mbps and clear text multiprotocol, it will be 1.5 Gbps.

if you want to calculate overall throughput across your ASA, please go through the below link :

ASA 5545-X throughput query

Hi Guys,

I have a query on ASA 5545-X throughput. As per Data sheets, please see below

Stageful inspection throughput (MultiProtocol) - 1.5 Gbps

Triple Data Encryption Standard/Advanced Encryption Standard (3DES/AES) VPN throughput - 400 Mbps

So if I am running Multiprotocol HTTP/FTP/OSPF/BGP with IPSec VPN's on the firewall so will my total firewall throughput be 400 Mbps irrespective of traffic type Or it will be 1.5 Gbps for other traffic but specifically for VPN traffic it will be 400Mps?

Thanks

Mahi
