I am running ASDM 7.5(1) and ASA version 9.5(1). It is what shipped with the device.

Previously, I saw some items when searching online stating this error message was because of not purchasing the Security Plus license but only on the 5505. I have not found anything online referencing the 5506 and this message.

I have also read the data sheet word for word 50 times and see no mention of this limitation for the 5506

ASA 5506 - License Error

I get my new ASA5506-X home and pop it open, ready to fully configure it, then I get the following error:

"With the current license device will only supports 2 fully function interfaces. Third interface can be added but the traffic from this interface to another interface need to be blocked."

Why do I have 8 ports on this firewall and I can't use them? I only get this message in the ASDM. No where in the documentation for cisco does it state that their is a license limit. When I look at the show ver, I see "Maximum Physical Interface : Unlimited."

I am hoping this is a bug of some sort.

Thanks.

I just created three

I just created three interfaces with access-groups assigned to them (permit any) in CLI. This worked and I able to ping devices behind all three interfaces so I am currently under the assumption that this is a bug.

It does look like a bug. What ASDM version are you using?

It's definitely not a restriction of the unit - even with Base license. Reference.
