Initial Configuration of ASA 5505

Hello, I have a new ASA 5505 and a Win 7 Pro laptop. I cannot get the initial Java based Webstart to run so I can do intital configuration. I have the latest version of Java, and have also tried old versions of Java. Whatever is supposed to come from the box while I connected only to it, doesn't work when loaded. Surely bunches of folks have had this trouble? The ASA is version 8.2

Well as I understand, there

Well as I understand, there is an initial webstart configuration. ASDM installs and runs but the ASA is still in some default dumb mode. When ASDM starts I do not have the username and password yet.

Sometimes is better to start the initial configuration using the CLI,

Try this Quick start guide

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/quick_start/5505/5505-poster.html#95928

or try this CLI guide as well

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa82/configuration/guide/config/start.html
