It's very likely that you don't have enough RAM to run 8.3+ (you need 1Gig for 8.3+).

The "normal" upgrade-path would be 7.0 -> 7.2 -> 8.0 -> 8.2.

Hi,

I have an ASA 5510 with software version 7.0(2) and would like to upgrade to a newer version as to enable Gigabit functionality on the interfaces. Is there an upgrade path that I must follow before moving to a newer version such as 8.3(2), or can I upgrade directly to the newer version?

Thank you

Pierre

Like Karsten said you will need to make sure you have 1gb of ram but here is a path to go farther.

7.2 --> 7.4 --> 8.0 --> 8.2 --> 8.4 --> 8.4(4) --> 8.4(6) --> 9.1(2)

Hope this helps

Mike
