I have a pair of 5540 firewalls.

Currently secondary is active .2 and primary is in standby .3 mode.

The problem is that I am not able to ping from active to standby IP and vice versa.

Even though I can ping them both from the local network.

I can ping without any problem other IP's configured on other interfaces from both the firewalls.

I tried shut noshut of GigE0/0 of primary firewall.

Clear arp on both the firewalls, still not able to ping each other.

Try a capture with trace on the interface and then attempt the ping.

1. Does it receive the ICMP request?

2. If yes, check the trace and see what it does with the packet.

3. If not, do a layer 2 capture.
