Easy, just add the new network to the ASDM allowed networks, as soon as you change the IP make sure that you are under the same IP scheme and then connect to it, then reconfigure then go through the wizard for basic configuration.

Has anyone ever successfully used ASDM to setup an ASA 5505 AND change the inside IP address?

I an see that would be a bit

I an see that would be a bit tricky. Unlike its big brothers, the 5505 doesn't have a management interface.

I'd think you would be better advised to first use ASDM to setup the outside interface and then temporarily allow management via that interface. Then move your connection to it and finish your setup of the inside address etc. Once you configure the interface, you can move back "inside" and complete the configuration. (Remember to disable or at least restrict outside management)

Another way you might be able

Another way you might be able to do this, though I have never tried it, could be to set up ASDM access for the new IP on the inside interface and then change the IP of the inside VLAN interface. You would then need to reconnect to the ASDM, but I believe that would work.

--

Please remember to select a correct answer and rate
