I have a Cisco ASA 5550 tht has a static route I cannot delete.

I have the route

route WAN 192.168.85.0 255.255.255.0 10.90.0.2

that went through an upstream router. That router is gone, and the connection has been moved to a different interface on the ASA, which is in the 192.168.85.0 network.

Now that I have a direct connection to 192.168.85.0 /24 through g0/3, I need to remove that old route that goes through an upstream router, but when I do a

no route WAN 192.168.85.0 255.255.255.0 10.90.0.2

I get

ERROR: Cannot remove connected route

So I shut the onld interface, remove the IP, and even renamed it. I still cannot remove the route, and traffic is getting black-holed.

Any advice would be great

Did you try to remove the route while the interface is in 'admin down' state?

Hi,

Have to say that I have never seen this kind of error.

So are you saying that this network is now directly connected to one of your interface? If so are you also saying that you have removed the IP address from the new interface and then tried to remove the "route" command for that same network?

Sounds to me that if that doesnt work it must be some kind of bug.

I assume that this device might be in heavy use as its an ASA5550 model? Was just wondering how are your chances of rebooting the device. (In that case I would probably remove the same network that is configured on some interface before I reboot and when reboot is done try to remove the route).
