I'm in the process of migrating from an ASA 5520 to an ASA 5525-x with IPS. What is the easiest way of moving the configuration to the new boxes? I have 2 that are set up as an Active/Standby pair. I've read something about just copying the config and applying that to the new box, but want to get some input on that method.

This is going to be a swap out of current hardware for the new so IP addresses and DSN names will not be a problem. They are new 5525X's right out of the box.

Also, 5520 is at 8.4(4)1.

Thanks for the help.

I have used the backup/restore method, also the copy config from tftp with sucess.

But of course this depends on the configuration you are exporting. Also i would assume the Cisco X device is running 9.x firmwarw ?

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Hello Gary,

At this point where you have both ASAs on an image that is higher than the 8.3 you will be fine with the copy paste buddy.

As Jon said you could use the backup/restore or you could copy and paste the configuration. Whatever fits you the best.

Remember to manually copy the PSK for the VPN with the more system:running-config

Rate all of the helpful posts!!!

Regards,

Jcarvaja

Follow me on http://laguiadelnetworking.com
