The Cisco SMB-APs can use PoE. There are different models with 2.4 GHz, 5GHz, or even both. As the 5505 only has FE-ports, the 300 or even 500 models could be a little bit overkill. But the WAP561 is a quite good model with simultaneous 802.11abgn that still fits when you decide to attach the AP to dedicated switch at a later time.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Hello,

I have just bought an ASA 5505 for my home. Currently I have just a WiFi router from the ISP (Virgin Broadband Fibre), but I aim to put this into modem mode and put onto the outside of the ASA.

Once I have done that I need to enable WiFi again, but I will need an access point of some sort I guess, can anyone recommend one and can the PoE ports be used for this?

I may use a VOIP phone in the other PoE port.

Thanks
