Hi,

Is EIGRP for ipv6 coming to ASA any time soon? Or would another distance vector protocol be advised.
I'd rather not use link-state protocols like ospf.
Our current network relies on EIGRP from start to finish.

Regards,
Erik

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Hi,

That network has all kinds of redundant links and we engineered eigrp metrics all throughout the network to make sure certain paths get selected.
To my opinion the same could not be arranged as easily with link-state protocols..

The network consists of 500+ routers, mix of dmvpn networks, mpls, etc, sat-links, ...

Erik

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Hello Erick,

Well I actually consider the opposite, I think a link-state protocol will allow you to have a more stable network, etc ,etc and you could still play with the metrics but you are right if the network is already set up and it's working fine with EIGRP no need to change it entirely to run OSPF. I agree on that one,

That being said you should wait for EIGRP to be supported on IPv6 (not that it's for sure that it will be supported but I will bet that really soon in the future that will happen)

Any other question or can u mark the question as answered?

For Networking Posts check my blog at http://www.laguiadelnetworking.com/category/english/

Cheers,

Julio Carvajal Segura
