    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We have just configured one of the interfaces (gig0/1)on asa 5585 with an ip address 10.58.1.1 /24.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;There is a laptop connected to this interface gig0/1 with ip 10.58.1.100 /24 and for some strange reason the laptop is unable to ping the asa interface ip 10.58.1.1.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;What could be the problem?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;appreciate all help.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;There shouldnt be many reason for this in your situation as the host is directly connected to the ASA interface.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;And by default ASA should allow ICMP to its interface if no additional configurations have been made&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You can check the output of the command&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;show run icmp&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;And see if there are any configurations that deny ICMP to the interface in question.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Naturally make sure that the interface is not missing any configuration and that its enabled with the &lt;STRONG&gt;"no shutdown" &lt;/STRONG&gt;command&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Jouni&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
