Unable to run debugs

I am gettng a strange error when I try to run debugs on a pair of our firewalls.

Error Message:

ERROR: No memory for debug trace buffer. Debugs not available.

Cisco ASA 5510 8.2(5)

Total memory 256MB

sh mem

Free memory: 53740048 bytes (20%)

Used memory: 214695408 bytes (80%)

------------- ----------------

Total memory: 268435456 bytes (100%)

You could be hitting a bug or the issue could be related to low memory.

Anyway, seems like you should upgrade the memory:

For the ASA 5510—Version 8.2 uses more base memory than previous releases, which might cause problems for some ASA 5510 users who are currently running low on free memory (as indicated in the

show memory

output). If your current

show memory

output displays less than 20% free, we recommend upgrading the memory on the ASA 5510 from 256 MB to 1 GB before proceeding with the release 8.2 upgrade.
