Cisco ASA 5510 - Data Center move/IP address change help

We will be moving to a new data center in the very near future and with them our WAN IP addresses will be changing. Can someone suggest our best course of action for changing the IP addresses throughout the firewall configuration? Would it be possible/suggested to export the running-config, make the neccessary changes, then import the config? Please note that I am familiar with the ASA 5510 only so far as changes are required. It is not something I work with on a regular basis.

Hello Greg,

I would recommend you to do the changes out of the box ( on a notepad ) and as soon as you are ready to go just copy and paste it to the box.

Thing's to do :

1-Change outside ip address

2-Change the default route

3-Change the right Static statements using the new ip deployment

4-Change the ACL so you can match the right ip deployment,

Hello Juilo,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. When you refer to the 'box' are you talking about the command line? If so I think you may be over estimating my comform level for the ASA 5510 When, on the rare occassion, I need to make any changes at all, I do so using the ASDM GUI. With the number of changes I will need to make I was thinking I could just export the running-config to a text file, make all the changes via search and replace, save the file and then import the updated config. Would this work? Is there any reason I should not do it this way?

Yes, that is fine as well, You can do it like that,

Is going to be almost the same option I offered just than mine only focus on working with the configuration that needs to be changed,

Bottom line: Both of them will work...
