I dont want to say that Interin isnt stable, ok?

The most recent version, is 8.4.4.9, but it is Interin. As soon as possible Cisco must release 8.4.4.9.ED and can I safe to update for it?

About the note, Im ok. I have 1GB and Im in the 8.4.4.1.

Im afraid to update to 8.4.4.9 and I have some problem. Seems is better to wait for 8.4.4.9.ED.

I understood it...

Thanks,

Diego

Hello all!

I was looking for a new release for my ASA software. I logged at the site and I found many releases.

In the attach I have some doubts, look in red:

Why this .ED ???? What is the meaning of???

And in "Interim" I have a newest release 844-9. Why this version isnt showing in "Latest Releases"?

Interim is like a beta????

What is release is correct for download?

Thanks,

Diego

ED means Early Deployment and, in ASA software, it is given to most software releases.

Interim is a release put out to address specific bug fixes. The release notes for an interim version say something like:

Cisco ASA Interim Release Notes

The software images listed below are Interim releases. They contain bug fixes which address specific issues found since the last Feature or Maintenance release. The images are fully supported by Cisco TAC and will remain on the download site only until the next Maintenance release is available. If you do not have a specific problem which is resolved by an Interim release, we recommend that you use the Feature or Maintenance release images.

Because of that special note, Cisco wants you to look a little harder and check the bug list before deciding to download and run an interim release.

Note that 8.3 or later on a 5510 will often require a memory upgrade. You need 1 GB on a 5510 to run 8.3 or later. (Reference)

You're welcome.

8.4(4.1) ED is the most current recommended maintenance release for general use on the ASA 5510.

A specific interim release may never see an exact match ED release - the caveats (bugs) resolved in a set of interim releases are generally rolled into the next ED release.

If you want to wait a couple of weeks, 9.0 is coming out very soon and it may be a step up. On the other hand, it will be a ".0" release with all the fun that entails. 😛

Please rate helpful posts.
