Firepower/Firesource Versions

We just received our new appliances, a pair of 7125 that came loaded with Sourcefire 3D7125 v5.4.0.1 (build 59). When I look on the downloads page, there is also a version 6.0.1, but just for patches. What is the difference between 5.4 and 6.0.1? We also have the Management Center VM, so will have to build the matching version.

Since this is a brand new deployment, would it be worth it to start out with 6.0.1? Do I need a TAC case to get the software?

I'd go with 6.0.1.1. You will

I'd go with 6.0.1.1. You will first need to upgrade to 6.0. Your FireSIGHT Management Center (pre-6.0 name) will first need to be upgraded to 6.0.1.1 (and as of 6.0 it becomes FirePOWER Management Center).

The release notes spell out the new features and bug fixes in detail.
