Has anyone come across any documentation

describing how much power is available via

the two PoE enabled ports on the ASA 5505?

The only documentation I can find just talks

to the ASA 5505 having two PoE ports with

little to no additional details about this

feature; details like the available wattage to

these ports, if they support both 802.1af

and/or Cisco pre-standard IP handsets, etc.

Thanks

Even though no specific technical fact on ASA5505's PoE is available, Cisco has made the PoE power rating standard for all PoE-supported products.

The PoE statement on the ASA5505:

The Cisco ASA 5505 provides two Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports, enabling simplified deployment of Cisco IP phones with zero-touch secure voice over IP (VoIP) capabilities, and deployment of external wireless access points for extended network mobility.

This means the PoE will be used to support IP Phone and wireless AP.

Based on Cisco standard, the PoE is supplying 48VDC.

Refer to IPTel PoE requirements and Wireless for example:

HTH

AK
