upgrading from IDSM to Sourcefire

Dear Support,

Kindly, I have case, where i have fours IDSM-2 modules, and as per the contract,company have to order renew support software through SUSW license. However My question, can i order the software upgrade license for this end-of-sales module. And is there any upgrade path in order to move to firepower IPS using the same module.

There's no upgrade using the same module.

There is no FirePOWER module for the Catalyst 6500 series to directly replace the IDSM/2.

They are fundamentally different products with different architectures from the ground up. This will unfortunately require you to replace the IDSM/2 with an external appliance.

Your Cisco partner should be able to consult with you to provide the right product choice for your network.
