We purchased a PIX 515E bundle s while back and have been using it for some time now just for firewall purposes, no vpn termination. It was working fine in stateful failover overmode running version 6.3.3. We recently upgraded to version 7.0.4 and now stateful failover will not work due to the primary pix not having 3DES-AES enabled. Apparently, this was not an issue in version 6.3.3, but it is now. Since we are not using any vpn features on the PIX, is it possible to downgrade the DES key on the secondary PIX in order to get failover working again?

The activation key is free. Just fill out the form on the weblink I posted before and they will send you a new activation key that supports 3DES/AES. Should be no harder than downgrading the other one.

Steve
