Hi,

I was looking to purchase a few books to help me in my Cisco field.

I currently work with ASA, switches and routers at work, most with ASA and then switches. I would like to learn more about the features including security and ideas of how to implment features provided by Cisco where I work.

I was looking to purchase a few books to help me.

I think first that you have to read is official CCNA books. You have to understand all basic functions. If you think that you are good in it, then take a look for CCNA security.

If you understand the basics you would understand what are you doing.

I've read the CCNA books and also have a CCNA. I've been working in networking for the past 9 months.

Cisco press books are really good for the theory but in the real world it seems things are missing.

Hi,

I have found the ASA firewall book by Richard Deal to be an excellent practical firewall reference book:

If you have a CCNA it might be worth considering studying for the CCDA and CCDP. They both have excellent security sections. You also cover a wide range of other topics such as wireless, switching, routing, VPN etc.
