Web Access with PIX 501

I have a weird situation. I can surf the internet just fine with most web sites. However there are a few that I can't get to through my PIX (i.e. microsoft, ebay, yahoo mail). Can anyone think of anything that might be the cause? I know it has something to do with the PIX, because I can swap it out with my netgear router and everything works fine. Thanks in advance.

Corey,

Off the top of my head I can only think of MTU sizes but that would attribute to intermittent content, like the webpage will show up but the pictures will take a really long time to download if at all. Are you using any kind of filtering software with the pix?

Would probably be helpful if you could paste a scrubbed config for us to review.

Patrick

since with the netgear works fine, the issue should have nothing to do with the internet link or dns.

just wondering if the issue is affecting all user or not. further, is the issue always with microsoft, ebay etc?

I am running version 6.3(5).

It is always the same sites. It's strange. I can access http://www.yahoo.com, however, I can't access Yahoo Mail. I can't access http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.ebay.com. And it happens with all users. There just has to be something in the PIX that doesn't like these sites.

Do you think using 'no fixup protocol http' might help fix it?

i guess it's worth to give it a go by disabling the command "fixup protocaol http".

further, i was just wondering if you can ping ebay.com, and whether the ip address can be resolved or not.

I'm having the same problem. I cannot connect to any Microsoft wep pages but I can to any other web sites.

I also have a PIX 501 with 6.3(5). When I place the server behind my PIX 515 (6.3 (5)I can connect fine to Microsoft. This a big problem as any server I place behind the PIX 501 will not be able to update the Microsoft software. Any idea's ????
