Once you convert you would have to reboot.

With any major changes similar to this one, I'd suggest scheduling some downtime.

Once you change from single to multiple it takes the single context config and adds it to the admin context. You will not loose any configuration that you had on the firewall.

conf t

mode multi

You can refer this link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_configuration_example09186a00809bfce4.shtml

-KS

Hello,

I have two FWSM modules in a redundant setup installed on two redundant cisco 6509E switches. Currently there is one context configured on the FWSM and the plan is to configure multiple contexts on the FWSM. The devices are in production currently. What are the recommended steps to convert a single context into multiple context. Not in the sense of configuration but in the sense of network outage and backups of configuration.

Thanks

I want to go from 2 context to 1..

Reading the link, it sounds like

save the running config (from the context I want to remain).

hostname(config)#mode single

Then erase running config.

load saved runnning config.

Correct?

no reboots?

All commands will be run via console connection.
