hi experts,

ASA is working in active standby failover and interfaces are being monitored with help of a snmp monitoring tool. When the failover occurs the ip address gets swapped and then it is not possible to get the information of the same ASA device anymore as it is not possible to get the logs and information of same physical interface.let me know if there any workaround to do the same

Dear Jayesh,

As per your query it seems that you have configured snmp host with virtual IP/cluster ip so you wont get data of active device upon failover.

You will need to configure 2 hosts in your snmp monitoring tool with specific device IP and not the virtual/cluster ip address

please rate if helpful.

Ameya

Hi

In cisco firewall , there is no concept of the Virtual IP in the Active - Standby failover . The IP address of the original active device gets swapped with the new active unit (previous standby).

Can anyone throw more light on my query ?

Hi Jayesh,

I guess my words were misleading, I just meant to say that configure 2 hosts in monitoring tool host ip being actual inside IP addresses of both ASAs.

Ameya
