topic Pix 515E Dhcp relaying configuration in Network Security

Hello I'm using a V 7.0 Pix 515E and would like to add a DHCP relay server to one of my interfaces. When I attempt to do so I recieve this error message:

ERR]dhcprelay server 192.168.122.9

rt1-inside

DHCP: Cannot enable DHCP Relay on an interface running DHCP Proxy. Remove VPN DHCP config first.

This interface is configured to tunnel to another pix.

I can't find mention of the DHCP proxy setting any where in the VPN section of ASDM nor any where ina the show conf listing. I'm not sure how to turn it off in order have my relay added.

Ideally I'd like dhcp requests and responses to pass through my tunnel and reach the Dhcp server on the other side. But in the iterim I have a machine sitting on the interface that acts as a dhcp relay.

How can I add that machine to my list of relays? or am misunderstanding what this setting does?

Thank you in Advance,

-James

try removing the crypto statement from the pix outside interface, then enable dhcp , then put the crypto statements back in

Thanks for the reply,

I'll have to wait until there is some network quite time to attempt that. I'll let you know how it works out.
