factory default on ASA 5520

Dear boss

I have another asa 5520 and it is configured. when i do factory default every thing erase. ok. when i enter again it promped for enable password. and it takes my privious password taht i gave in full configuration.

It generally comes no password .

Why enable PW dont erase ?

why factory default holds my previous password ?

pls suggest me

Wr erase will remove all config

write erase will remove all configuration following a reload, it will not retain passwords.

did you reload the ASA after you did write erase?

I just did conf factory-default then write then reload.

Every configuration removed. but enable password retain privious one.

why it happened ?

is there any procedure to do factory default ?

at the command line in enable mode type

write erase

if it asks you to save anything to memory - say no. Then reload the ASA.

You see the bit where it says Save? [Y]es/[N]o you NEED to input N

As the bottom says "2776 bytes copied" means you have NOT cleared the config.

u r correct.

when i do conf factory-default it retain enable password and management IP.

when i do write erase every conf erase.

I thing this is difference between write erase and factory default.
