ASDM-IDM Launcher does not launch with java 7, java 6 is going away.

Oracle is stopping support and stopping security updates for java 6, and the version of hte ASDM IDM launcher does not work with java 7.

How do I get this resolved? Is there some combination of firmware updates and software updates for the ASA5505 appliance that will get me up to date?

Can you try the following with java 7?

Can you Allow Java to use the SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format. Open Java in the control panel and check the option under Advanced.

Also are you able to used ASDM to connect to the ASA or both IDM and ASDM does not work?

This might occur if ASDM version is old and not followed up with latest Java .

Using the latest Java, the SSL 2.0 option is not selected by default. I selected the option and the Java warning has now ceased and connectivity is possible.

I checked the SSL 2.0 compatibility but still does not connect. The ASDM-IDM launcher just sits and spins the flaming windows circling ring.
