Raj,

Thanks for your response mate.

The firewall have unrestricted license and the show version command (see below) show maximum 10 interfaces only. Currently, I am using 6 Physical interface + 4 logical interfaces and when I tried to add another logical interface the PIX firewall refused to add it. Do I need a new activation key to get all the maximum 8 logical interfaces?

Thanks in advance again.

Benjamin

Hardware: PIX-515E, 64 MB RAM, CPU Pentium II 433 MHz

Flash E28F128J3 @ 0x300, 16MB

BIOS Flash AM29F400B @ 0xfffd8000, 32KB

Encryption hardware device : IRE2141 with 2048KB, HW:1.0, CGXROM:1.9, FW:6.5

0: ethernet0: address is 000a.41fd.e080, irq 10

1: ethernet1: address is 000a.41fd.e081, irq 11

2: ethernet2: address is 00e0.b605.a81b, irq 11

3: ethernet3: address is 00e0.b605.a81a, irq 10

4: ethernet4: address is 00e0.b605.a819, irq 9

5: ethernet5: address is 00e0.b605.a818, irq 5

Licensed Features:

Failover: Enabled

VPN-DES: Enabled

VPN-3DES-AES: Enabled

Maximum Physical Interfaces: 6

Maximum Interfaces: 10

Cut-through Proxy: Enabled

Guards: Enabled

URL-filtering: Enabled

Inside Hosts: Unlimited

Throughput: Unlimited

IKE peers: Unlimited

This PIX has an Unrestricted (UR) license.

based on Cisco website, a PIX 515e firewall running 6.3 can have maximum 10 interfaces, 6 physical interfaces, & 8 logical interfaces.

Am i corect to say that the maximum 10 interfaces is a combination of physical & logical interfaces?

I thought you can use all the 6 physical interfaces + the 8 logical. I guess I am wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Hello benjamin

PIX 515 E with restricted license can have max 3 physical and 10 logical interfaces

PIX 515 E with UR license can have a max of 6 physical and 25 logical interface (with 7.0) with 6.3 it can have 8 seperate logical interfaces..

So , totally you can have 6 physical and 8 seperate logical interfaces.. nto sure where you have seen the max interfaces as 10, but according to me, we can have 6 physical and 8 seperate logical interfaces on 515 E...

HTH

Raj
