PIX PPPOE SETROUTE

I have a PIX 515E running PIX 6.3(4) connected to the internet using PPPOE. The IP address for the outside interface is set using the command:

ip address outside pppoe setroute

However, sometimes after the connection fails (happens a lot here), I get the following error message repeatedly logged:

%PIX-4-403505:PPPoE:PPP - Unable to set default route to xx.xx.xx.xx at outside

Until I manually delete the old route, the connection stays down. I suspect this may be a bug in the software, but would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

Nigel Thomas

Thanks, I understand what the message means. My problem is that I have to manually delete the old route set by the setroute option before the link comes back. This can result in the link being down for hours until I can get in to make the change. This should not require a manual change - that is the point of setroute. Also, as the IP address changes with each connect, I cannot manually add a static address.

One further piece of information. After the line goes down the route entry changes to route to gateway 127.0.0.254 - any ideas why?
