Dear KS

Many thanks for your reply. I just wanted to confirm something:- I can already remotely access the device via VPN using the ASDM from one location, but it does not work from another. In each case I am using the same VPN connection/account and authentication details etc. I am confused as to why I am able to access the device remotely in this way from one location, but not another.

Kind regards.

DC

I am able to access the ASA5510 device (8.2(2)) via ASDM (6.2(5)) from a PC at home (Windows 7, IE8, most recent java) but am unable to connect to the device from my work PC (also Windows 7, IE8). Each time after succesfully connecting to the VPN, my browser just times out on https://192.168.2.1/admin. I cannot even get to the screen inviting me to download and install the ASDM software. I have tried rolling back the java version, but this made no difference.

I also tried installing the ASDM direct on my PC first, but the device doesn't respond to the IP address and authentication details.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.

If you are connecting via vpn you need this command "management-access inside".

If you still have trouble pls. follow this link and run through what I mention there: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13012/

-KS
