Hi,

 I have a setup in which my PIX 506 is connected to an 805 Router Via the

 Ethernet port.I want to replace my 805 with a 1760 but the FastEthernet port

 on the 1760 doesn't seem to inter-operate with the PIX ethernet Link.

 Does this mean I have to go through another device(Switch)?

 Scenario is as below.

 LAN -> Switch - > PIX -> Router(805) -> ISP.

Thanks

THere shouldn't be any issues here. If you've set up both interfaces to auto-negotiate speed and duplex, and that's not working, try hard-coding them and see how that goes. Does the interface actually come up on the PIX and router? What does a "sho int" on both devices say (up/up or up/down)?

You can hard code the speed/duplex settings on the PIX with the following:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_62/cmdref/gl.htm#1026738

Hi,

are you using the right cable? I think in this case you should use a cross-over cable instead of a straight cable.

Is the interface on the router and on the pix enabled (on not administrative shutdown)?

Is the link speed and duplex mode ok?

Regards,

Tom
