Is the preempt option available in active standby ASA firewall setup with single context...somewhere i have read that same is available in active-active setup or active/standby setup with multiple context..

any supporting doc fo the same if avialable..

You are absolutely right. The "preempt" option is only available in multiple context mode.

I also did a quick search on the latest version and it is not there yet. It is only supported on Multiple context

Command Mode	Firewall Mode		Security Context
	Routed	Transparent	Single	Multiple
	Routed	Transparent	Single	Context	System
