I believe the settings are N81 for the console port on your PC.

After that, read up on:

 http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/v_62/config/index.htm

I feel like an idiot for this one. What the hell - I'm new. We just purchased a PIX 515 and I do not have the slightest idea how to connect to it. I can't get to the command line via the console cable. I have it connected to the rs232 but don't know how to get in.

I also would like to know how to access the GUI interface as well. I HAVE SEARCHED HI AND LO AND CANNOT FIND A SINGLE DOC ON THIS! Do you know of a link that has this beginner type stuff?

Thanks,

J

As for accessing the GUI, you may or may not need to actually load the software on, doing a "show ver" will tell you (if the 2nd line shows a PIX Device Manager version then it's already installed).

After running the setup program on the PIX, you should be able to simply browse to the inside IP address using https://<IP address=""></IP>

See here for details: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pdm/v_20/pdmig/index.htm
