topic Allow access for NFSPROG port 100003 thru PIX (ver 6.x) in Network Security

Need to verfiy how to correctly permit access via port 100003 ( Sun's Network File System) through PIX, as fixup protocol will not support this port (100003). Another way is by using "established" command - still trying.

PIX ver - 6.x

Thanks.

The number for Sun's NFS 100003 is actually the program number and not the port number. Here is a list of the program numbers and the corresponding port numbers:

program vers proto port

100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper

100000 2 udp 111 portmapper

100024 1 udp 946 status

100024 1 tcp 946 status

100003 2 udp 2049 nfs

100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs

100005 1 udp 945 mountd

100005 2 udp 945 mountd

100005 1 tcp 945 mountd

100005 2 tcp 945 mountd

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for the feedback. It means that I need to use "established" command to tie/map these ports together? Do you have any successful attempt before?

Thanks.

AK
