Unfortunately you can't use ASA smartnet on PIX firewall. Smartnet is based on the serial# of the device.

Since PIX525 has reached EOL, we will not be supporting the product anymore, therefore, no Smartnet will be available for that product. The last day to add Smartnet for PIX525 was July 28, 2009.

Hope that answers your question.

If the PIX525 currently has existing Smartnet contract, it can just be renewed. However, if the PIX525 is not on an existing Smartnet contract, you won't be able to add that anymore.

Last day: July 28, 2009

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

Last day: October 23, 2012

The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product.

If you renew the existing Smartnet contract for the PIX 525, it will only be renewed until July 27, 2013 (This will be the absolute last day to receive any support on this device).

The current part# for the smartnet should be listed in the existing smartnet contract itself. I don't know what service level you currently have, therefore won't be able to provide the exact part#. Can you please share your existing contract#? I can check that for you. Or, alternatively, you should contact your Cisco rep. that normally assist with Smartnet contract. He/she should be able to assist you with the renewal base on your existing part# in the smartnet contract.
