topic DHCP Client on PIX 501 in Network Security

I am trying to connect a PIX 501 to our ISP (Cable service). I am unable to get a DHCP address fro the ISP, but DHCP works fine on a WIndows network (I plug the PIX into a port on the private network and I get an address from the Win2K DHCP server without a problem).

What am I overlooking? I tried different cable modems (both Motorola) with the same results. I also tried all of the other fixes (including cables, different hubs & switches, etc...)

PIX software v. 6.1 with 3DES encryption.

Thanks

JK

You need to use PPPoE on the outside interface. PPPoE support is available in PIX software version 6.2, recently released.

Why does eveyone always say you need PPOE...? Only if you have a PPOE ISP that sends you the IPs that way.. Right..?

For Attbi.com (cable) you do not need PPOE just enable DHCP and it works fine.
