I have a pix 515 with 6 interfaces. Software version 5.2(1). If I connect anything to any of the ethernet interfaces 2-5 line protocol will not come up.I have confirmed that the speed and duplex is correct. I have also checked to make sure the cable is good.

Config:

nameif ethernet0 outside security0

nameif ethernet1 inside security100

nameif ethernet2 dmz security50

interface ethernet0 100full

interface ethernet1 100full

interface ethernet2 100full

ip address outside 65.107.235.67 255.255.255.248

ip address inside 141.242.171.1 255.255.255.0

ip address dmz 65.107.235.73 255.255.255.248

Go to global configuration mode (pixfirewall#conf t) and type the following command:

interface ethernet2 auto

This should turn on interface ethernet2. You can do the same for ethernet3-6. Don't forget to name the interface (nameif) and put them in the appropriate security zone. Also, make sure you plug the RJ45 line into the right interface. The order of the interface can be tricky. I hope that help.

You have a PIX 515 what??? R or UR?? R only supports 3 interfaces - the 2 built in ones and one more. The UR supports 6. If you have a UR, try the interface ethernet2 auto command. IF not, OH WELL!! 🙂
