memory usage : 94%

Firewall has 64 MB RAM.

Version 8.0.3

I disabled threat detetection and buffer logging, but no change. Rebooted two weeks ago and a decrease to only 88%. Now it is back up to 94%.

any idea why high memory usage, or how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks.

There were some memory issues in earlier 8.0 versions, some with VPN.

If you see memory only creeping up and not going down I could suggest to open a case or go to 8.0.5 to get rid of old memory issues.

You also need to realize that 8.0 is normal to run 64MB memory close to its limits.

I hope it helps.

PK

Should the solution be to upgrade memory to 126 MB then?

Thanks.

8.0 ass important functionality and it is normal to run high memory of smaller memory boxes like the PIX525.

If normal memory after a reboot is around 80-85% then for any increase of traffic you could be running the PIX on its limits.

More memory can help.

PK
