Hi all,

Any comments when to use Ips Manager Express instead of IPS Device Manager ? Does IME obsolete IDM ?

thanks in advance...

IDM is actually built within IME.

All of IME's configuration screens are actually the IDM screens.

So if you have IME installed on the machine your on, then use IME.

If you are on a different machine, or don't use IME for monitoring, then use IDM.

IME is the next generation of IEV.

IEV was just a monitoring tool and could not do configuration.

IDM for configuration was developed at the same time as IEV.

Customers wanted to be able to do both monitoring and configuration within the same tool so the IEV monitoring functionality was combined with IDM configuration functionality to create IME.

IME, however, is limited to Windows.

Several users use Linux, and so we didn't get rid of IDM. IDM can also be used by customers who use other monitoring tools.

The configuration screens in IME are taken directly from IDM so either tool can be used for configuring the sensor.

NOTE: Both IDM and IME are meant for smaller deployments. CSM and CSMARS are designed for enterprise customers.
