topic help on 4240 in Network Security

I'm pretty new on IPS. I'm trying to put 4240 IPS between my ourter router and FW. Can I connect g0/0 to router and g0/1 to FW? What interface mode should it be running? Is there any other way to do this? I was trying to find some sample config on Cisco website. No luck so far...

Thanks.
