PIX Failover configuration

Hi All,

I do not have the command "failover lan unit secondary" in the configuration.

But still i see the pix box shows as secondary.

ph-md-pix1# show failover

Failover Off

Cable status: Normal

Failover unit Secondary

Failover LAN Interface: not Configured

Unit Poll frequency 15 seconds, holdtime 45 seconds

Interface Poll frequency 15 seconds

Interface Policy 1

Monitored Interfaces 4 of 250 maximum

Let me know if any one why it is showing as secondary.

If you are using failover cable, the primary and secondary should be decided by it.

I wanted to conncect a cross cable between them.

can i configure lan based active/standby configuration using failover cable ?.

Nope, that's why it is called "LAN based". If you would like to use "LAN based" failover, you need connect them together via the ethernet port. Please refer to the configuration guide.
