      <title>PIX 515E upgrade problem</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Problem1: I am trying to upgrade pix 515e from 6.3(1) to 8.0(4) version in monitor mode and I am not able to do that. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;monitor&amp;gt;interface 1 &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;address 192.168.16.250 &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;server 192.168.16.20 (my laptop with tftp program on) &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;file pix804.bin &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;tftp &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I get the below &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;monitor&amp;gt; tftp &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;tftp pix804.bin@192.168.16.20 &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;TFTP failed (return:-1 arg:0x0) &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Laptop to pix (no ping response) &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Pix console to laptop (pin ok) &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Pix console to pix interface 1 192.168.16.250 (no ping response) &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I went through these forums and tried with different tftp programs (cisco tftp, 3cdaemon, pumpkin, tftpd32) and no luck. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;problem2: &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;On show version, I see &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This PIX has a Failover Only (FO) license. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Can this only be used with only active/failover config? What should I do if I want to use as a normal standalone firewall. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Please advise.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you have no ping then you have a connectivity issue.. Try going through a switch to connect the PIX and PC, or verify the cross over cable&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I checked both ways connecting through the switch and also with crossover. No luck. I wonder why its own interface is not pingable! &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any other opinions?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If not this how can I upgrade through the interface command. I have a hard time mentioning the right path. The file is on my desktop&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
