RE: Cisco IPS 4250, IE Viewer 5.1(5) S286

When I tried to start viewer, having been functioning without a problem for some time, received error message that said that IPS could not connect to MySQL server on local host and that the Windows service should be check and started. No luck on restarting service. Received this error: Could not start the MySQL service on local computer error 1067. The process terminated unexpectedly. I have tried: a reset & cold reboot, removed and reinstalled MySQL service via command line.

Any Ideas? (Re-installation of event viewer is last resort, right?)

thanks.

--Will

FYI -- I resolved the problem & learned a lesson.

1) I was about to re-install when I was re-reading the README.TXT file and found this

WARNING: Do not remove the c:\my.cnf file. The MySQL server used by IEV requires this file.

2) Lesson learned:

always have a current backup to restore files that you might deleted by mistake.

ps. no points were awarded to any Cisco support people
