Is there any good reference book / material available online for Cisco MARS. I'm pretty new to it and looking forward for some basic and conceptual knowledge.

There are books available, but I would recommend starting with the user guides.

Start with the User Guides like Matthew suggested and then do the following.

1. Visit the following blog:

Finally buy this book from the Cisco Press by Dale Tesch, "Security Threat Mitigation and Response."

You should also keep an eye out for another MARS book that is due in June:

Security Monitoring with Cisco Security MARS (Networking Technology: Security) (Hardcover)

by Gary Halleen and Greg Kellogg

Hi Paul,

Thats what exactly I was looking for.

Infact, being in Cisco's world for last 4 years, I guess Cisco gives a strong competition to all her competitors whenever it comes to Post Sales Support, Documentation and Support Professionals in the market.

I'm pretty new to the MARS and though going through the User Guide/Config Guide and Data Sheets, it was not getting clear (I started working on MARS from yesterday ONLY) though have got some experience in VMS but scenario has changed a lot now.

Anyways, I appreciate your invaluable help and time.
