I've just been looking at the performance stats for the firewalls we have (Nokia) and the firewalls we are planning to get (ASA) and found the following:

Nokia IP560

FW - large packets 6.0 Gbps

VPN - large packets 1.78 Gbps, AES256

CPS - 58,000 CPS

Max 725,000 FW TCP sessions

Nokia IP690

Firewall - large packets 7 Gbps

VPN - large packets 1.85 Gbps, AES256

Max TCP 725,000

TCP session rate 35,624

Cisco ASA 5550

Maximum firewall and IPS throughput(Mbps)1.2 Gbps

Maximum firewall connections 650,000

Maximum firewall connections/second 36,000

Packets per second (64 byte)600,000

Maximum 3DES/AES VPN throughput 425 Mbps

Maximum site-to-site and remote access VPN sessions 5000

Maximum SSL VPN user sessions 5000

Bundled SSL VPN user session 2

Either Nokia and Cisco are measuring completely differently, or the ASA is way, way slower than the Nokia boxes

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Richard

Hi,

If you look at the 5580 then your able to get upto 20 Gbps (using large packet sizes) and 2 million concurrent connections.

This competes well with a Nokia box.

Regards
