ASDM Launcher unable to find a Java Runtime.........

Hi,

I'd be surprised if no-one else has seen this issue so I'm hoping the answer is out there already - I've been unabe to find it though.

I've been trying for 2 days to connect my ASDM launcher to my ASA5505 without success- firstly versions

ASA5505 running;

asa803-k8.bin

asdm611.bin

Laptop is running (don't laugh);

Windows 8 64bit

IE10

Firefox 21.0

Java;

I've installed:

jre-6u31-windows-x64

jre-6u31-windows-i586

jre-6u7-windows-i586-p

jre-7u25-windows-x64

jre-7u25-windows-i586

I've installed the launcher from an msi file and the ASA (after uninstalling the previous install).

I can https onto the ASA but IE10 won't do anythig when I click on any of the buttons - so I've scrapped IE10 form the equation.

I can https onto the box via Firefox and can click on run ASDM. The launcher starts but freezes after 15 mins on 24% when updating software.

No matter what JRE is installed i cannot run the launcher from the msi file install - i always receive a launch failure window explaining that it's 'Unable to find a Java Runtime. Please download........blah blah blah'.

Could someone please tell me the way around this without upgrading the ASA and or ASDM? Please? I'm starting to study for my CCNA security but this is just taking the mickey.

Hi Kenny,

Try this command "clear config ssl" and also upgrade your ASDM version.
